Directions

We put the flour, mahleb and salt in the mixer bin. We rub the mastic with the sugar in one. We put the mastic, sugar, butter, milk, water in a saucepan, we heat it to 300C (lukewarm), and we pour it into the mixer bin with the flour. We hit at medium speed for 10 minutes until the mixture polishes and peels off the mixer bin. We remove the dough, we cover it with a clean towel and we let it rest for 15 minutes. Then we divide the dough into 2 pieces and we open it in elongated cords. We cover them again with a towel and we let them rest for 10 minutes. Then we knit the sticks in a braid. We bind the edges of the braid to make the Easter bread and we place it on a baking sheet with non-stick baking paper. We put the Easter egg in the center and then we put it in a hot oven at 40 degrees with a water-filled baking dish. We leave it for about 25 minutes until it rises. Before baking, we sprinkle with egg and almonds and we bake in the oven at 150 C for 40 minutes.
