The activities of MILLS OF CRETE now extend to the following fields: Flour, Dairy products, Cereals, Fodder and Biofuels. In addition, they have taken on a leading role in the Delights of Crete trade partnership.
In the flour industry (professional and consumer), the company holds a leading position in the Greek market, investing continuously in the research and development of new, innovative products. The products follow the most stringent quality criteria from the stage of the raw material market to the distribution of finished products. More than 300 meal codes are produced that highlight specialization, orientation in the production of innovative products, and the ability to develop, in cooperation with the customer, flours tailored to their particular needs. The company provides technical support to professional bakers with specialized food technologists, providing technical solutions or helping them develop new products. MILLS OF CRETE was the first Greek flour industry to develop a range of functional flours since 2008 under the brand “Platho Ygeia”.
In the dairy industry, MILLS OF CRETE are now active through their participation in the Cretan Dairy Industry SA, under the brand Vero Cretan, which has become synonymous with quality. The main vehicle of growth remains Cretan goat’s milk and products made from it like yoghurt and ice cream. The focus of the company is the absorption of most of the island’s goat’s milk production, while it is possible to control the entire food chain of the animals through the feed of the company. The distribution network is not limited to Crete, and in 2018 it launched fresh milk through vending machines, bearing the mark “The Day’s Milk” and is located at small outlets, giving new prospects for development.
Among the innovations of MILLS OF CRETE is the launch of the Vero Cereal Lactose-Free Beverages series in 2018. Vero Cereal products are 100% vegetable, low-fat and free of added sugars, and are a source of edible fiber, calcium and vitamins D, B2, and B12. Raw materials are particularly sophisticated with strong emphasis on high nutritional products of the Cretan land, such as carob and orange.
MILLS OF CRETE have also developed the Delights of Crete, which is a trade alliance of four historical companies in Crete (MILLS OF CRETE, ABEA, BIOXYM, Vero Cretan), which through a joint effort aim to promote Cretan products beyond the limits the island and the country.
CRETE MILLS are certified with the ISO 9001: 2008 Quality Management Certificate, with the ISO 22000: 2005 Food Safety Certificate, the FSSC 2200 Food Safety Certificate, the Organic Flour Certificate and the Organic Feeding Certificate.
